Nintendo, a 250+ year old company invented Pokémon in 1996. They were no strangers to making playing cards neither. Hanafuda 🎴 playing cards ran as a tradition in the Nintendo family for centuries. The intrinsic past of Nintendo leads us to understand the nineties and what it meant to a company.
1985, Nintendo Entertainment System & ‘89 original Gameboy. 1990-1991, the Super Nintendo “HIT” the mark. It wasn’t until the much more polished Gameboy Pocket, in ‘96 that we saw the likes of Pokémon. First in magazines, then on Gameboy, televisions, movie screens advertisement and in a brand new Trading Card Game (TCG.)
